Foundations For Farming - Course Monday At Sunway

Pastor Ian Steyn will be presenting a course on Monday to approximately 200 Sunway residents. This course will teach the residents how to farm in a unique way that Brian Oldrive from Zimbabwe has successfully implemented.

During Wednesday's community meeting - 18 Feb 2015 - in the NG Church Schoemansville as organised by Hartbeespoort Inhabitants Forum, Jeanne van den Merwe from the Hartbeespoort Christian Community showed the video of this extraordinary development which was born from a desperate position Brian and his family found themselves in. Brian describes how he had go through deep waters and that he understands that this was God's way to bring him to better understanding.

The method entails the use of natural means using a blanket of leaves and grass rather than deep soil inversion.

Monday's course will be free, though Foundations for Farming needs about R 2,000 to tend to the course attendees. Anyone can contact Jeanne at 076 508 8731 should they want to contribute.

Future courses will be presented to various communities and Jeanne told the meeting that Hartbeespoort residents can sponsor individuals to attend these courses. She will make available details regarding future courses.

Andries Lombaard indicated to the meeting that these type of social development projects should be supported by Hartbeespoort residents to empower the poorer communities and to improve their conditions. The whole Hartbeespoort community will benefit in this way.
