Who Is In Control?

The more perceptive would have noticed that the world is changing around us in more ways than the obvious. We are entering a new era which may be dangerous or exciting. All that can be said is that our kids will experience something totally different from what the West has come to know in the past 500 years from the renaissance up to achieving the goals of democracy and emancipation.

The flames of the Big Rebellion seem to have subsided, and the era of music as expression of this rebellion seems to be largely over. In the same way another rebellion is petering out and main stream thoughts seem to settle in more sensible territory.

What was this other rebellion? .......

The rebellion of science against religion.

The more centrally positioned people are moving closer to each other from both sides. Many main stream articles attest to this fact.

On the one hand the iniquities propagated in the name of religion make people more aware of the dangers of unthinking fundamentalism. On the other hand statements made in the name of atheism are being uncovered for what they are, namely unscientific. Science has become the play-ball for ideological warfare, but actually science has nothing to say about whether God exists or not. It is merely us being curious and wanting to know the truth. We can not rightfully totally exclude the possibility of God from our various world view hypotheses.

People are beginning to realise that both of these approaches to the central question of Purpose, are part of who we are. Our hearts and minds. We can not be whole if the one is neglected. We can not - not ask questions or be critical. The world will also be poor if we base everything on clinical and logical arguments only without the sense of the unexplainable and ethereal.

We retain a deeply comforting thought that somewhere someone is in control.
