Aloe Valley Meander - launched!
The Aloe Valley Meander on the R511 is up and running! Vision, creativity, hard work, cooperation and perseverance - a recipe for success.
Large and small businesses and community members in the vicinity of the R511 (the main route from Fourways through to Hartbeespoort Dam) launched the Aloe Valley Meander (AVM) during April. “It comprises a variety of local attractions which we will collectively market and showcase as a prime tourism, recreation and wellness sdestination in Gauteng,” says Andrew Banks, chairman of the AVM Business Forum. “There are four spas, a wellness centre, several restaurants, conference centres, picnic areas and hiking trails in the Meander.
“We launched with a Market at Serendipity Restaurant on 19 April with an excellent spread of local produce and arts and crafts. There are many creative people in this region!” The feedback was great: “I just wanted to say congratulations - what a very pleasant day spent at the Market on Sunday - well done! I hope your Market goes from strength to strength.” The Sandton Chronicle reported: “It gave local businesses the opportunity to showcase and sell their wares within the magnificent setting of the Crocodile River Reserve.”
The Market will run once a month and the next one is on Sunday 31 May. A Festival is planned to run in conjunction with the Crocodile River Reserve’s Ride the Rhenoster (mountain biking event), middle of September.
“Much has been done to promote tourist venues in and around the Cradle of Humankind to date,” says Andrew. “It is time to work together and put our area on the map. We believe cooperation will greatly benefit all local businesses.”
