SCIENCE IN THE VELD

Professor Pink of TV3’s Knock Knock series fame had an array of eggs, balloons, bottles, wrecking balls, rods and even a baby’s nappy ready for his presentation at The Sheds@Birdsong on 17 May.

“Is the Professor going to bake something?” whispered a girl to her mother.

Professor Pink, resplendent with his flashy bow tie and silver mop of hair, presented science as it’s not practiced in the classroom.

An appreciative audience of 40 kids and parents sat on bales covered by colourful cloths - a perfect setting for the slightly breathless Professor Pink to introduce them to the magic of science.

The kids were very much part of the cast, enthusiastically shouting out answers to questions, mixing strange concoctions, balancing on ladders and magicking eggs into and out of bottles.

“These kids are sharp!” said Prof Pink as they peppered him with comments, questions and answers. “Definitely some budding Elon Musks in this bunch!”

By popular demand Prof Pink will be back!

The event was arranged by the Crocodile River Reserve as part of the series of monthly walks, talks and presentations for the public.
