Lynne Clarke, Kalkheuvel

More than a century after the explorer, William Cornwallis Harris, first recorded the Sable antelope in the valley along the Crocodile River in 1836, this beautiful animal has returned. Four have been brought into the Kingdom of the White Lion in Kalkheuvel. Welcome back!

Corlette Wessels, Vlakfontein

We filled a small dam close to our house with water for the animals - all natural streams have dried up. A jackal mom and her pups came for a drink. My heart goes out to all the animals in this terrible drought. (This pic was taken at 8 pm and the temperature reading was still 30° C.)

The Big Five have had their share of glory. Some of the Small Five are equally intriguing.

No fear. Alert miniature gecko

An unusual proliferation of Ant lion holes - maybe because of the dry conditions?
