4 Jan 2015: SAP And Plotwatch Success On The Plots

Well done to SAP and our hero community members in Plotwatch on the plots for their diligent efforts!

On Friday night SAP arrested an armed suspect on Rietfontein plots.

This morning 5 suspects in black attire were prevented from doing their dirty work by SAPS and Plotwatch by chasing them away. 2 Crowbars, 2 monkey wrenches and a bag was left behind by the suspects during the chase.

If anyone has more information - please provide.

I have contacted Harro Rust with the message that the Neighbourhood Watches in town need to assist Plotwatch on the plots and that we must coordinate together in 2015. We already have some overlapping patrolls when visiting the plot based residential estates. The foot-based suspects usually move through the plots on their way to town, and if we can aim to stop them there before they enter town - the better. Obviously, the vehicle based suspects that leave getaway cars close to the main exit routes (i.e. Scott street or R511) do not necessarily move through the plots.

There are 5 positions that can be covered by the eyes-and-ears community members for any getaway vehicle trying to slip out of town to notify SAP. We have practiced as such and more practice runs needs to follow during 2015. Though - the number of exit points increase once a getaway vehicle manages to enter the dirt roads on the plots.

This is the type of operational coordination that we need - all of us - in 2015 if we want to start getting serious about our combined efforts against crime in a unified front.
